Australian Catcher Tim Yeomans Signs with New Mexico Baseball
Rising Australian baseball star Tim Yeomans has officially committed to playing college baseball for New Mexico.
A standout catcher and first baseman for the Belconnen Bandits, Yeomans has consistently excelled at high levels of competition, representing ACT/Canberra from Little League through to U18s, including schoolboys tournaments and the inaugural DownUnder World Series.
Tim was introduced to the DownUnder Travellers (DUT) by Jason Spindler, and the pathway program proved instrumental in his recruitment journey. DUT partnered with ACT Baseball Coach Erni Rauter to conduct specialized video analysis and data collection, showcasing Tim’s skills to U.S. colleges. This process ultimately led to his signing with New Mexico, where he will take the next step in his baseball career.
“The recruitment process was seamless,” Tim said. “DUT and Ben Moore put in a huge effort to give me the best opportunity to make it to college, and it paid off. Their experience, connections, and ability to get Aussie players in front of the right people make a massive difference.”
New Mexico has a strong relationship and deep respect for Ben Moore and the DownUnder Travellers, recognizing the program’s ability to develop and connect high-calibre Australian talent with top collegiate programs. Tim is the latest in a growing list of players who have earned opportunities through DUT’s proven system.
Tim’s decision to join New Mexico was also influenced by the program’s reputation and coaching staff. “The track record this program has with developing players is incredible,” he shared. “But mainly, it’s the coaching. I’ve heard nothing but great things about Coach Robbins, and I can’t wait to learn from him.” Having played baseball since the age of five, Tim is eager to take his game to the next level. “Baseball means the world to me. It has shaped who I am today, given me incredible experiences, and introduced me to lifelong friends.”
As he prepares for his next chapter in New Mexico, Tim encourages young players to seize every opportunity. “Have a crack! I’ve met so many players who had the chance to go pro or play college ball but never took the leap—and they regret it. Don’t let that be you.”
With Tim now set to compete in the U.S., the Australian baseball community is excited to watch him thrive on the college stage.
